I had a chance to experiment with video marketing over a year. The results for my experiments have been very impressive. Initially I was reluctant to get into video marketing but luckily I had a friend help me to get started. To this day I am trying new and interesting video techniques to send traffic to my affiliate offers. In this article I hope to share with you some of my journey into this world of video affiliate marketing and share with you some video marketing tips.

While there are many places you can upload your videos I’ve mainly focused on YouTube. YouTube offers the largest video community on the Internet, there are literally videos that receive millions of views a day. This is referred to as going viral. You will also generally receive the best return for your efforts by using the YouTube platform. This traffic can be used for a variety of things, such as: building a list and even linking directly to an affiliate offer. This works very well with CPA offers.

There are many reasons why YouTube is such a great site for video marketing. Adding a page rank of nine this site is incredibly trusted and carries a ton of authority. Not to mention, YouTube is owned by Google.

If you have experience in traditional marketing such as building a website and optimizing it for the search engines. you are very aware of the great amount of work and time involved in the process. The cost is even much higher. Having to purchase things such as domain names, hosting and even purchasing content can be very expensive. Then you have to drive traffic to its website

To get traffic to your website you must optimize the site. This is referred to as SEO (Search Engine Optimization). SEO in itself can take months or more. It takes a very focused marketer to be able to accomplish these tasks. Unfortunately sometime even after completing these painstaking tasks, your website will receive little to no traffic or have an awful conversion rate. For this reason alone, most marketers fail or quit within the first year.

YouTube on the other hand is much easier. In fact, video marketing can be done virtually at no cost, ranked high in the search engines much faster and bring new income greater.

Actually ranking video on Google’s front page is not that difficult when targeting the correct keywords. You will notice higher CTR (click through rates) also. These great click through rates are due to Google using thumbnails on their search results for videos. These thumbnails draw attention to your search listing.

The traffic potential that you can receive from YouTube is actually staggering. You can target keywords with over 1500 exact local searches and rank on the first page in days. I have witnessed a simple video rank for a very competitive keyword that had over 10,000 local searches rank on the first page of Google within a month. This video brought in over $500 in affiliate commissions with 2 months. This was with only 1 short video. You can surely see the potential here.

Now getting results that are as impressive as mentioned above, you will need practice. Trial and error is very important when creating videos. You should constantly be optimizing your videos for better click through rates and conversions. It is important to start making videos right away so you can begin to practice tricks and techniques. You can split test different videos with the same keywords to optimize your videos more effectively.

While I will not disclose my exact methods, I will share with you some video marketing tips I learned from over a year of video marketing. Try to always be genuine and honest. By providing videos that actually benefit viewers you will have more people clicking on your links. If possible, actually try the products that you make videos for as this will provide some of the best results. Remember to share the benefits but to also provide some negatives. People know that if it sounds too good to be sure it normally is.

Initially I was scared to enter the world of video marketing as it seemed somewhat unrealistic and very time-consuming. As many marketers know that information overload can cripple your marketing efforts. Luckily, I had a friend help me to get started and I was creating videos within days. I started seeing results within one week and made my first commission shortly after. I was astonished by the ROI in terms of profit to hours of work involved. Many people don’t know that the video marketing niche is still virtually untapped.

There are many different video creation applications available that allow you to make videos quickly and with very little effort. You use programs suchas Camtasia to do screen casts, you can use photos slideshows or you can create much more technical videos if you choose to. Your options are virtually endless. Always remember to add a link to your website or landing page within the description of the video.

Video marketing with YouTube is a great way to diversify your marketing efforts and to add income from new traffic sources. Only requiring a short amount of time to get started.
